Alli Review

Alli

Does Alli Work?

Alli is claimed to be a "fat inhibitor," which basically means that it won't burn fat that already exists, but it aims to block fat from being absorbed.  Alli is a product that has been relatively popular over the past couple of years because it produces moderate results.

Is Alli Safe?

Alli has a reputation for causing some unwanted side effects.  Users have had some unpleasant experiences using Alli including some of the following: Gas with oily spotting, loose stools, more frequent uncontrollable stools.

Alli Ingredients

Alli contains the following ingredients: Orlistat, FD&C Blue #2, Edible ink, Gelatin, Iron Oxide, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Povidone, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Starch Glycolate, Talc, Titanium Dioxide.

Alli Pros

  • Helpful customer service
  • Fat blocker
  • Orlistat

Alli Cons

  • Expensive - $65
  • Unpleasant side effects
  • Negative consumer feedback

The Alli Bottom Line…

Alli may help you keep a little weight off, but it comes with a price.  Chances are you will experience some unpleasant side effects.  Since the risk of these side effects is so high, I don't think Alli deserves the $65 price tag.  I recommend looking for a fat burner that doesn't require carrying around a change of clothes.

I would like to hear from people that have had a good experience (weight loss) with Alli

Kathy Boyer October 6, 2009 at 3:28 am

First off, I do not have a complaint, just a question of small concern! My husband & myself have been taking Alli for over a year now….I’ve had weight loss results, my husband not as much….is there any time limit as to how long Alli should be taken? I’ve read about stopping after few months is fine, but one can always go back on Alli at any time! Just concerned about long term use of Alli, as my husband was thinking maybe we should stop from some things he’s heard!

I have been using Alli for about a month now and I absolutly love it! I am gradually loosing weight with a combination of diet, exercise, and taking alli. People who experience these unwanted side effects are not following the diet. If you eat unhealthy and take alli you will poop your self! The literature that comes along with the alli will tell you that if you are consuming too much fat than these side effects will occur. The problem is that people are looking for some sort of magic pill where they can eat whatever they want, not exercise and take these pills, they think they can keep living that way and this “magic pill” will take all their fat away, but sorry it does not work that way. If you follow a low fat diet, exercise and take the alli you will not have those unwanted side effects, I don’t.

Has anyone taking Alli experienced outbreaks of Eczema or itching on different parts of their body? I have been itching for several months & also been taking the Alli for about the same amount of time. Is this a side affect of Alli.

Do you have to start with the starter pack. Is there a difference in the pills from the starter pak and the refill pack?

jacque February 6, 2010 at 1:35 pm

I’ve been taking alli for 2 weeks ive also been going to weight watchers. I have lost 3lb 1st week & 3lb in the 2nd week I have had no side affects and Id also like to add that I have a thyroid problem so that makes it hard for me to lose weight . So there is hope .

marilyn February 7, 2010 at 3:35 am

I have been taking Alli for nearly two years. I have lost over 50 lbs. I have not followed the Alli plan and at times have nearly had accidents. But Alli has truly helped me lose and maintain my weight.

I’ve been taking Ally for about three weeks and although I haven’t gained any weight (and have allowed myself to eat freely), I did get some extremely bad side effects as as literally leaking oil with gas. Would not recommend this to anyone….

KP March 2, 2010 at 7:57 pm

I began taking alli on feb. 16,2010 and within my first week, i lost 5lbs and my 2nd week, i lost 4lbs…. i exercise 4-5 times per week by walking and excersing 45 mininutes in the morning… having breakfast in a timely fashion, lunch on time, and dinner by 6pm all followed by the alli pill. i also, worked out in the evening to help increase the weight loss faster. You must also take your multi vitamin every night before you go to bed. That was a must if you read your brochures. It helps to fight off unwanted something or another…but allie works. I purchased the sample pack to see if I could continue the pill daily and if it would work… due to eating, excersing, and the multi vitamin I now weight 179 pounds to date. I plan to continue my journey but lessen the pill taking b/c I believe by excersing and controlling what and how I eat will work just as well. Dont become dependent on something you need to do daily with or without a pill. Get your mind to be focus on your goal weight, and focus on a better you. Being prayful and a great attitute also helps.

I started taking Alli 6 months ago. I went from 238lbs down to 145. It definately helped me to make better food choices but I threw the bottle in the trash today. I have had sporadic itching that lasts for several days at a time. The itching is so bad that I have scratches all over my body. I am now in fear that I have damaged my liver from taking the Alli. The severe itching is one of the first signs of liver damage. I work for several doctors who are recommending that I go through liver testing soon. I pray that my enzymes are not out of whack! If you are taking Alli,,, STOP! It really isn’t worth it in the end.

tracey April 25, 2011 at 5:37 pm

I tried Alli about two years ago. I developed a severe rash and terrible itching for several weeks before I made the connection that I was allegeric to Alli and/or its ingredients. Got treated with a dermatologist and stopped taking Alli. However, I have been left with ongoing struggle with ezema/ skin hypersentisivity in general. Before, I had no such symptoms.

Please stop taking Alli if you have these symptoms and check with your doctor about a possible allergy.

I make no comment regarding Alli’s effectiveness itself.
